IWMD 2026 Events In Scotland And RIDDOR Consultation
Below is a list of events taking place across Scotland to commemorate those whose lives were taken from them because of the neglegence of their employer as a result of an avoidable risk/accident, and because of work-related illness.
Scottish Hazards have compiled this list and in doing so has also reminded Union Safety Reps that the HSE are in the middle of a consultation period covering RIDDOR (The Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013).
Scottish Hazards commented:
" This consultation espouses more deregulatory nonsense about making things easier for employers to report incidents at work but no commitment to extend reporting requirements to modern day work related ill health conditions that are making people ill by their work, such as harms caused by sexual harassment at work, bullying and work related mental ill health caused by occupational stress and sadly , on occasion leading to suicide.
The consultation closes on the 30th June and we would encourage unions, branches and their health and safety representatives to submit responses."
